Where it all began...

Hi! It's Ellie here with Twiggy, my (almost) 4-year-old Italian Greyhound.

Twiggy broke her leg a few years ago and it became more apparent the awkwardness of putting on and taking off her jumpers and coats. Tight where I needed more room, baggy in areas where it wasn't needed. It was quite a song and dance getting ready for a walk and it didn’t feel right.

For almost 3 years, I've been creating jumpers and coats for Italian Greyhounds here in the UK to make life that little bit easier in the cooler and wetter months, using high-quality and functional materials sourced locally that are made to last, and designs that complement their grace and wide range of motion. We’ve tested and retested our designs, scrapped ideas and started over many times to make sure our garments fulfil what we set out to do. We’re starting with a small collection, handcrafting each garment to order, but we're constantly developing and testing new ideas to grow the collection.

I’ll always say I'm happiest when Twiggy is nakedly running free, but where she often needs a layer when I'm out and about, we at The Hound Edit believe wearing clothes should be as comfortable an experience as possible for Italian Greyhounds, whilst looking cool. If it’s good enough for Twiggy, it’s good enough for us and we hope for your little ones too.

Ellie and Twiggy x

Clothing that your Italian Greyhound feels good in, and you feel good about - without costing the planet.

So, what makes our approach at The Hound Edit a bit different?

Design-led for comfort and ease
Our garments are designed to your Italian Greyhound's unique build and wide range of motion.

Making the experience easier for us owners
Clever, subtle touches such as hidden stretch in the areas you need it most and soft coat tags underneath every garment so your dog’s coat hangs next to yours by the front door.

Extensively researched and tested materials
We focus in on the properties of technical fabrics to ensure our garments support our dog’s unique needs through breathability, stretch, weight, and stretch. For us, just warmth isn’t enough.

Affordable luxury that lasts
Quality materials with the credentials can be difficult to access as small businesses and are more costly, but we work hard with our suppliers to offer the best value for the community.

Kinder to the planet
Our materials are sourced from makers in the UK and you’ll find our fabrics have sustainable qualities, ranging from organic to OEKO-TEX certified.
This also goes for our brand labels, made from recycled yarn, and our packaging which is made from recyclable materials. We’re proud that our mailing bags are made from the greenest material, a by-product of sugar cane, and carbon-neutral.

We donate the off-cuts from the creation of our garments to a not-for-profit community group in Devon using art as a foundation to promote cohesion, inclusion, social justice, diversity.

Community-driven
We involve our community throughout the design process so we can get it just right for you all. You’ll see us pop up on social media quite frequently asking for your input and experiences as it's really important to us.

Handmade in the UK
Our garments are made here in the UK by Kim, our pattern maker and seamstress, who has been with us since the very beginning.

Our impact

What began as a little idea during Twiggy’s recovery - to make her life in clothing more comfortable - has evolved into dressing puppies seeking their first jumper to senior dogs looking for something a bit different in their wardrobe. From bringing newfound comfort to Italian Greyhounds who once itched their way out of clothes to making it much easier for owners to dress their dogs before a walk (which we all know can be a tricky experience), we’re proud to be here, making a difference with that ‘little idea.’
