Dog-friendly spots - Shere, Surrey: A charming gem
We might make Italian Greyhound clothing at The Hound Edit, but we're also very much into walking and good food and drink from growing up in a family of foodies and dogs! From time to time we'll be sharing nice dog-friendly spots we think you'll also love to explore with your little one.
This time, we ventured out to the enchanting village of Shere, nestled in the Surrey Hills. It’s a place that feels straight out of a storybook, with its quaint cottages, boutique shops, and cosy pubs.
Walking in Shere
Shere is more than just picturesque streets and jaw-dropping cottages that have featured in film favourites, such as The Holiday and Bridget Jones's Diary. The village offers leisurely walking trails that are away from main roads so Twiggy could have some time off the lead. We took a route that led us south of the River Tillingbourne and out into the rolling fields that overlook the village. With the crisp air and sweeping views, it was the perfect start to our Saturday.
It was a little crisp and so Twiggy was dressed for the occasion in The Jean-Pierre organic cotton jumper. With it being fleece-lined, she was perfectly cosy for our day out in the hills, but it's also super breathable so I'm always confident her temperature is just right when she's running back and forth in her own little world.
There was a lovely bench overlooking the fields. We took a quick fuel stop (treats all round!)
The village
Picture the most quintessential English village you can think of. I don't think it gets much sweeter than Shere. The cobbled streets are flanked by beautiful cottages adorned with blooming flower boxes, each one a picture-perfect slice of history. The independent shops offer everything from locally-made honey to unique antiques. Twiggy's sleek silhouette didn't fail to turn heads as we strolled through Shere’s winding lanes.
A perch at The White Horse
No visit to Shere would be complete without a stop at The White Horse, the famous pub that starred in the classic film, The Holiday, and they happen to be very dog-friendly. The seats by the open fire were taken, but we quickly found a cosy nook for a bite to eat. The perfect respite after a walk.
We headed back to the car with a very tired Twiggy and The Jean-Pierre ready for a spin in the washing machine.
We'll be back with more adventures but, until then, pop us a hello if you've come across any lovely Iggy-friendly spots lately. We'd love to share them with The Pack community across the world!
